I think I’m getting hemorrhoids at 14 weeks pregnant…maybe TMI. Any help?
I am almost 14 weeks pregnant, and as my niece would say I have a bad case of "Itchy Bum". I know it’s not because it’s dirty, since it itches even after I take a shower or wipe with hypoallergenic wipes. I am a nanny and my first thought was worms (that’s one of the first things they train you in child development) but I got tested and it’s not. My hubby says he doesn’t think I have them because they are painful, not itchy. The problem is that sometimes there is a stab of pain, so I’m thinking I probably have them.
Anyway, how can I know and what can I do about it? There is nothing worse than walking down the street like a duck because my bum is itching. HELP!

Congratulations on the pregnancy and also for being one of those rare folks who can spell hemorrhoid correctly.
You may indeed have hemorrhoids. Some are painful, sometimes itchy. Sometimes both.
Ask your doc. Perhaps try preparation H (not orally), or petroleum jelly which I hear is just about as effective and a lot cheaper.
LOL..walking down the street like a duck..that was a good one…Anyhow, it may be hemorrohids. Give you OBGYN a call and ask if you can try using over the counter products to see if they will offer you some relief? You should give that a go, and if it doesn’t help, you may have no choice but to go to your doc. Best of luck hun!
No, they are itchy more than painful. Are you straining to pass a BM?
Hemorroids are usually external, you will be able to feel them around the opening of the anus.
Get Witch hazel and use that, its an antiseptic. It is cool and will take some itch away. This is a cheap version of tuck’s pads. This is completely fine no need to check with doc
Also get some preparation H ointment with hydrocortizone to apply topically. check with doc first on this
The antifungals (monistat) do work well for that area, provides relief even though its not a fungal (yeast infection). Also completely fine, no need to check with doc
Begin taking colace (stool softner). These are approved for pregnancy.
It may be your diet. It is possible to get yeast infections in the digestive tract. Try taking probiotics (safe for pregnant women), eating yogurt, cutting out your refined carbohydrates and eating more vegetables. If that is the problem, it will clear itself up with some dietary adjustments. I have had this problem before (not while I was pregnant- haven’t been there yet) and my doctor / nutritionist recommended those changes and they worked wonders for me. I had also been concerned that maybe I had worms…lol.
Its sound like hemorrhoids but to be sure that you have hemorrhoids – I would
recommend you to see a doctor.
