Usually constipation causes difficulties in defecating and hemorrhoids are associated with constipation – so that is the connection. If you are asking if they can cause an obstruction, I doubt it. It is painful but not hard enough to cause actual blockage.
They can cause difficulty but this is mainly due to the pain associated with passing the stool. Often you may feel that you cannot pass the stool when in fact the stool has already been passed – this is due to the hemorrhoid inside the anal canal giving you the same feeling that feces inside the canal give you. (so you think you havent finished passing the stool)
Don’t strain to pass the stool, if your hemorrhoids are hard, increase your fiber intake by eating vegetables and fruits and drinking more water (at least 8 glasses per day).
