Hemorrhoid Symptoms Archives

I had an awful exacerbation of my IBS-d symptoms today; I was in so much pain and spent a lot of time in the WC. During my worst bout today, I noticed some very dark maroon coloring to the diarrhea. I’ve had blood in my stool before from hemorrhoids, and it was much brighter in color than this, plus left little spots on the tp. This was different. I’m on no new meds or anything. I’ve had tons of tests (colonoscopies, etc.), even very recently when I was hospitalized for almost two weeks because of losing weight and dehydration (from my chronic diarrhea). Aside from a positive ANA (but that test is inconsistant), the docs say it’s just really bad IBS.
I guess it’s all in my head, but I could swear I’m really sick. What do you think?
BTW, I’ve had this condition most of my adult life, but it’s gotten worse in the last few years.

I’m 15 and have pains in my chest at very random times. Usually on my left side (feels like heart) but sometimes is on the right. The pain can either feel like squeezing or stabbing. when squeezing, it usually hurts somewhat on and off for about a minute or two. The stabbing normally last between 1-4 seconds then goes away by itself. The pain normally happens when I’m not active.Usually when I’m just like, writting notes or something in school or just at home watching tv. I don’t have a lot of stress or anything so I don’t think it has to do with that. and it doesn’t leave me short of breath at all. This has been happening on and off for the last year but more so within the last month.
I recently read a story on the internet about a girl who was around my age and had these exact same symptoms. She said it ended up being a hemorrhoid opening. But I am confused and didn’t see how that matched up. Hemorrhoids are like swollen rectum and anal veins.

Anyone know what this very random chest pain could possibly be or if it is some type of hemorrhoid??
I forgot to mention. I’ve already seen a doctor and she didn’t have much of an explanation, she just said keep a journal of when it occurs and we’ll see if we end up seeing a pattern. but i’m pretty sure there’s NO pattern. it’s very random!

I’m not sure that it’s heartburn or indegestian because it doesn’t really feel like my heart is pounding hard. it doesn’t always happen after i’ve eaten and doesn’t leave me short of breathe.

like I said, I’m not sure about anxiety attacks because from what I learned about them, they don’t really seem to be the same thing as what’s going on with me. Plus I’m not usually stressed out and even when I’ve been to a point where I felt extremely stressed, I didn’t feel this pain. I may not be realizing it but don’t think it’s stress related.

I think it may be some type of weird muscle spasm but it does not last long and doesn’t happen when i’m active.
I’m no where near being overweight but i have not yet had my cholesterol checked.
It may be gas pains, but I barely even drink soda and my diet is fairly good. Not a whole lot of fast foods/greasy foods.

Also, how do you know if this is a symptom of something more serious or just the fact that you had alot of rubbish in your diet previously? This has been going on for a couple of months with someone close to me. p.s. they have a hemorrhoid so there is alot of pain with bm but no blood or cramping etc

SOME HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADAN

This article provides useful advice on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadan. If followed, it would enable one to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadan.

During the holy month of Ramadan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible. The diet should be such that we maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining.

However, if one is over-weight, Ramadan is an ideal time to normalize one’s weight.

In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fiber containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods.

Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for
only 3 to 4 hours.

* Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, whole meal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates) .
* Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates) .
* Containing-containi ng foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, sem (papry), marrow, mealiest, spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc.
* The foods eaten should be well balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat/chicken/ fish, bread/cereals and dairy products.
* Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heartburn, and weight problems.

AVOID

* Fried and fatty foods.
* Foods containing too much sugar.
* Over-eating especially at sehri.
* Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body would need during the day.
* Smoking cigarettes. Smoking and anything which is bad for health is Forbidden in Islaam, since Smoking is unhealthy and one should stop it completely. If you have this bad habit, it is good time to stop it now and for ever.

EAT

* Complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you
less hungry.
* Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is a slow-burning food.
* Dates are excellent source of sugar, fiber, carbohydrates, potassium and
magnesium.
* Almonds are rich in protein and fiber with less fat.
* Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium and carbohydrates.

DRINK

* As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so
that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.

CONSTIPATION

Constipation can cause piles (hemorrhoids) , fissures (painful cracks in anal canal) and indigestion with a bloated feeling.

Causes: Too much refined foods, too little water and not enough fiber in the diet.

Remedy: Avoid excessive refined foods, increase water intake, and use bran in baking, brown flour when making roti.

INDIGESTION AND WIND

Causes: Over-eating. Too much fried and fatty foods, spicy foods, and foods that produce wind e.g. eggs, cabbage, lentils, carbonated drinks like Cola also produce gas.

Remedy: Do not over-eat; drink fruit juices or better still drink water.

Avoid fried foods; add ajmor to wind-producing foods.

LETHARGY (‘low blood pressure’)

Excessive sweating, weakness, tiredness, lack of energy, dizziness, especially on getting up from sitting position, pale appearance and feeling faint are symptoms associated with "low blood pressure". This tends to occur towards the afternoon.

Causes: Too little fluid intake, decreased salt intake.

Remedy: Keep cool, increase fluid and salt intake.

Caution: Low blood pressure should be confirmed by taking a blood pressure reading when symptoms are present. Persons with high blood pressure may need their medication adjusted during Ramadan. They should consult their doctor.

HEADACHE

Causes: Caffeine and tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day, lack of sleep, hunger usually occur as the day goes by and worsens at the end of the day. When associated with "low blood pressure", the headache can be quite severe and can also cause nausea before Iftar.

Remedy: Cut down caffeine and tobacco slowly starting a week or two before Ramadan. Herbal and caffeine-free teas may be substituted. Reorganize your schedule during the Ramadan so as to have adequate sleep.

LOW BLOOD SUGAR

Weakness, dizziness, tiredness, poor concentration, perspiring easily, feeling shaky (tremor), unable to perform physical activities, headache, palpitations are symptoms of low blood sugar.

Causes: in non-diabetics: Having too much sugar i.e. refined carbohydrates especially at suhur (sehri). The body produces too much insulin causing the blood glucose to drop.

Remedy: Eat something at sehri and limit sugar-c

I’m really scared and paranoid. I haven’t been sexually active in almost a year and I’ve been seeing my doctor regularly throughout it. Over the past month I’ve been having a lot of weird symptoms. They are all around the anal region and not very close to the vagina. At first I had very painful bumps which I thought were hemorrhoids around my anus. They went away. Now I have sever bruising and swelling around my groin and anal region. I have now just discovered an open sore on one of my cheeks, its very painful. All the symptoms sound like herpes (I know I’ve researched) But I haven’t been active in the past year, have been seeing my doctor regularly and all the men I’ve been with we’re either virgins or had one previous partner. HELP!

Someone close to me had straining and hemorrhoids for 2 months with no other symptoms and then started eating loads of fruit and veg to combat it. They now have diarrhea and pains and tiredness for 2 days. Is this the diet change or is there something more to worry about? The reason I am concerned is that his Grandfather had stomach cancer very young though his mother and 4 sisters didn’t get it. Please help I am very worried. Sorry if this sounds silly
He is going to doc I am just looking for some ideas from people who have knowledge of this please

Three years ago, when I was pregnant with my child, I started developing constipation and abdominal pain. I thought it was just pregnancy-related. It got worse, and worse, and worse, and worse.

After about a year and a half (several months after I gave birth), I went to the hospital because I was in so much pain I could barely breathe. They did an X-ray and said I was extremely constipated, and they told me to follow-up with my doctor and look into getting a colonoscopy. They gave me a bunch of laxatives.

I didn’t have a doctor and I was REALLY broke, so I kept trying to ignore it.

Anyway, 6 months after that, it was getting a whole lot worse and I managed to come up with the money to see a doctor. He was really unhelpful and said I probably just had IBS. I think he only saw me for a few minutes.

So, like three months ago– this is like 3 years after all this started– I finally managed to start seeing a doc regularly. My doctor also thinks I have IBS, but she says I’m still very constipated and that she’s "a little concerned" that there could be something else going on.

I’m scared to death. I’m really low-risk for colon cancer– 23, female, vegetarian for 10 years… I had rectal bleeding a lot about 2 years ago but not anymore (it was from post-childbirth hemorrhoids)… But I still feel like there’s something wrong. I have horrible reflux, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite. I’m underweight and my stomach NEVER stops hurting.

My mom’s a nurse, and she says there’s no way I could have had all these symptoms for 3 years and still be alive and walking around, if it was colon cancer. And my blood counts are norma; no anemia or anything.

I don’t have money for a colonoscopy… I’ve arranged to get one for free, but that’s 8 months away. In the mean time, I’m scared to death that I’m going to die or that I’ve got a massive tumor in my bowels.

Is there any way I could have had colon cancer all this time, and still be more-or-less okay? Can IBS really cause all these symptoms? The pain is unbearable and nothing helps…

Serious answers only, please… And please don’t answer unless you have at least *some* idea of what you’re talking about.

I know what hemorrhoids are so please don’t explain them. I have them but i don’t know why! Im 16, athletic, taking vitamins and right amount of fibers, not obese, healthy enough diet. What are some rare symptoms that might be why someone at my age and health have hemorrhoids?

I ask because I have symptoms occuring, one inch above the area at the end of my tailbone. Is it possible Hemorrhoids can occur in this location?

On Monday i started feeling a little itchiness in the rectal area and by the end of the day I noticed open cuts around my anus. They look like little paper cuts. By Tuesday afternoon it hurt to walk and appeared to be getting infected. There was little scab like sores forming and by Tuesday morning they were oozing pus and there was a bad odor. I used anti fungal cream on the infection and it really didn’t do much. So then I tried vagisil. That helped with the soreness but didn’t get rid of the infection/cuts. By Thursday night I was in so much pain I went to the ER. The doctor came in and took one look and said oh you have herpes and they are really infected. I was shocked. I went on to explain that I’d been in a monogamous relationship with my b/f for the past 5 1/2 years and have never had symptoms like this. In fact my b/f just had a full STD check including a blood test for herpes 2 months ago and it was negative. The doctor told me that the blood test isn’t accurate and that the only way to diagnose herpes is when outbreaks happen like the one I currently had. I asked them anyways to do a culture and a blood test and after a bit of going back and forth he did it. I won’t have the results for a week and he told me that it might be negative but I still have herpes. That doesn’t make sense to me. He prescribed a bunch of medicine. Valtrex (used to treat breakouts for genital herpes), Keflex ( used to treat bacterial infections), and Acyclovir cream (used to treat gential herpes outbreaks). I’ve been putting the Acyclovir cream on every 3 hours 6 times a day like the instructions suggest, taking keflex 4 times a day and valtrex twice a day. Actually the cream cleared up the infection the following day but the cuts are still there and very painful. They keep reopening every time I have a bowel movement and they bleed. I tried to tell the doctor that I’ve had a lot of problems with hemorrhoids and constipation since giving birth to my son. My b/f and I actually thought that I had anal fissures that got infected because of the little paper cuts on my anus that were originally there before the infection. So I’m just wondering if the doctor is right about the blood test? Why would they perform such a test if it wasn’t accurate? Also do those sound like symptoms of a herpes outbreak?? I’m suppose to go to a dermatologist for a follow up appointment next week but my insurance won’t be effective until December 1st so I’m not sure what else to do. I’m really upset right now so please don’t say anything mean. All advice is appreciated and welcome. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I am around 4w6d pregnant. I had a few symptoms the past two weeks. I had sore boobies ( not extremely sore but enough to not want to touch them without saying ouch) I also had some hip pain. One morning I felt nauseous for about 2 seconds then felt better again.

About 4 days ago I had a bowel movement and had pink spotting (anal). Yesterday I had a bowel movement and when I wiped I had bright red blood. I am pretty sure it was rectal. I have had no bleeding since then and it was only once when I wiped- it covered just one side of tissue.

I expected hemorrhoids but read that it is unusual to have those during early pregnancy.

I also haven’t had any symptoms since yesterday. No sore boobies.. The only thing is I am tired but I figure it is from my lack of sleep or quality of sleep. I have tossed and turned.

Has anyone experienced this or could give me an idea of what is going on? I called my doctor but he is out of the office until Monday =(

Well I’m a nurse and my sister thinks she has a std. I really don’t know what to do.I’m not a doctor to detemined what she has because a lot of std has like the same symptoms. These are all the symptoms she’s having blisters on the thighs, she had some kind of bumps or blisters on the vagina. She faint on Christmas day. She had a fever as well. Constant diarrhea, bad stomach cramps. She’s scared to go to the doctor. Now its getting to the point shes talking about killing her self because she feel emotion disturb. Also I really don’t know what was around the annual, but she told me she think that she has hemorrhoids. So I’m guess it was some sort of ooutbreak. I really want to help her but what ever is going on she told me she feel depressed. Lord please.I just hope somebody out there then went through this or something and can tell me something. I don’t need negativity, please help!!!

For about the last 4 months, I have been dealing with these symptoms and I don’t know why. I am an otherwise healthy 27 year old mother of two. Every time I eat, no matter what it is, I have to rush to the bathroom with horrible stomach pains (that even wake me up at night). I once had my stool tested for parasites, which turned up nothing. I all the time have a bloated feeling and very bad painful gas with it. I take over the counter meds in hopes of helping the symptoms which only helps short term. Not to be gross, but my stool is always very loose and yellow in color. I have developed some hemorrhoids and they do sometimes bleed when I have an episode…. (not a lot, just a few spots on clothing). I get this "I’m hungry" feeling, but when I try to eat I almost vomit. I have to pretty much force myself to eat. I could be starving, but nothing at all sounds appealing…. Has anyone had any similar problems? Outcomes? Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I had bloody stools yesterday (and it’s not the first time) so I decided to take the colonoscopy next Tuesday, and I was really freaking out. I’ve already had hemorrhoid for quite a long time so the rectal bleeding might be caused by it, but I also read that bleeding may also be a symptom of colon cancer (because although I had symptoms for hemorrhoid quite a long time ago, this is the first time I had blood with my stool). The point is, I can touch the ‘piles’ thing in my anus, will it cause any difficulties to the procedure? And more important, does it HURT? I’ve heard comments from many people, some says it was a piece of cake, some says it hurt even more than giving birth. Somebody with any experience can help me?

Also, anybody got an idea where in Sydney is the best place to do colonoscopy? (I’m very concerned about the place I booked the test, don’t think they’re trained enough)

This may be graphic – but I apologize in advance.

A month or so ago, I noticed that once or twice I had a drop or two of blood on my toilet paper when going #2. Gradually, there has been more blood off and on (although sometimes there is none). Once or twice there has been a lot, which scares me. Other times, it just appears as a few streaks on the surface of the stool and toilet paper. My other symptoms include a sharp pain in my bottom that lasts a few seconds during the stool passage and some pain/itch for about 20 minutes following it. I haven’t had abdominal pains, haven’t lost or gained weight, and haven’t had any changes in my bowel habits. I drink a few times a month and don’t smoke. I’m 22 years old. I also tend to not drink enough water/beverages. I’m pretty fit and not unusually tired or anything.

I went to the doctor recently but only ended up seeing a physician’s assistant. Besides being extremely rude, she did like a 5-second digital exam and told me it wasn’t hemorrhoids. She said I should get a referral to a GI doc and then get a colonoscopy.

My mom said she thinks it’s an anal fissure, as she had one with the same symptoms several years ago. I’m going to make an appt. to see an actual doctor for a second opinion, but I was wondering if anyone with similar experinces might say. (I know it’s not Crohn’s, by the way).

Apologies for the loaded question but I wanted to capture all the data and I tremendously appreciate your help & time, thanks!

My company suspended me from work in early Feb. so I went to my union rep and was sent a 0-600 check which covered 2 weeks of sick leave. My health insurance stopped early March and I went to see a psychologist to get a signature for state disability b/c obviously 0 is not enough to live on for very long. She signed the disability papers but they were rejected b/c they needed a licensed physician and my doctor is refusing to sign them b/c "you’re not disabled- u can go back to work just take your antidepressants." Well, I can NOT afford antidepressants if I don’t have health insurance, so I had to stop taking them when they ran out in mid March. He wouldn’t listen, he is just an all around uncooperative jerk. I went back to the union and they said the Health and Trust Fund can most likely accept the therapist’s signature to get the state disability processed and they helped find me a psychiatrist for free. My symptoms show my thyroid is probably acting up again and I should go back on antidepressants. I can’t sleep, I have hemorrhoids, I have lower back problems, headaches, bunion feet and the people from this company have caused me so much mental distress and anxiety and hatred that they should be sued for what they have done to me emotionally. I’ve been looking for other jobs but I’ve been unsuccessful.

So my questions are:
1.Can a company suspend you for a year?? I want them to lay me off so I can qualify for unemployment but they wont do that nor fire me in order to prevent me suing them (they’ve been sued before and they lost). They say they’re suspending me so that I can get healthy but even if I got healthy they said they still don’t want me back.
2.Do sick leave policies typically cover only 2 weeks if I’ve been working there for almost four years?
3.If I’m suspended I’m still technically an employee right? So why then am I not getting any health benefits? Can I walk in there and legally get a copy of the schedule? Can I get my 3 week vacation pay for this year?
4.Can the union-provided psychiatrist get me @ free or low cost = blood tests for my thyroid or hemorrhoid & insomnia meds? Or is it restricted to just mental medication?
5.Should I get a lawyer and sue? Do I have a case that will win?

I’m a 21 year old male. I’m a little over weight and have panic disorder but in otherwise good health. I’ve been noticing a bright red streak of blood on top of my stools for the past few weeks and read online that there was a possibility it could be colon cancer. I went to a doctor today and he put his fingers into my anus and said that my stools felt hard. He then put some samples onto some sort of card that tested to see if there was blood or not in it and it said that there was no blood in the stool. He told me that with colon cancer the blood is mixed in with the stool and with hemorrhoids it was on top of the stool. I remember reading many cases where because of age or the like a misdiagnosis of hemorrhoids was given even though it was later discovered to be cancer. I’m worried to death every minute of everyday and it’s making me tired and unable to live life. I have also had other symptoms such as headaches, nausea, chest pains, and regurgitation but I think these are due to my anxiety. What I want to know is should I stop worrying and have faith in the doctor and that test or should I go to another doctor for a second opinion and insist on getting a colonscopy or other tests done? I’m very nervous and very scared and would appreciate any sort of helpful feedback. Thank you in advance.

I had a baby 9 weeks ago…i believe i have hemorrhoids and or a tear. I know it’s common after having a baby because of all the pushing that happens. The only thing is im in soooo much pain. I bleed so much… literally drops of blood come out of me. To use the restroom i have to bite down on something because it hurts so much. So i know i have to change my diet but how long is it suppose to take to heal? am i suppose to bleed this much? i did tell my ob/gyn and she just said " oh yea its hemorrhoids or a tear" and thats it. not much help. i won’t have medical insurance till the end of the month so i cant go to the dr. yet. but then again i know there isn’t much they can do. oh and i haven’t had these symptoms all 9 weeks…its just become worse within the last few days.

Hey, I have been having vaginal burning/irritation for some time. Recently, I woke up with massive pain in my lower abdomen. I went to the doctor and after feeling around and he agreed something was wrong with my bladder. He gave me meds for a UTI and sent me to the lab to get a urine analysis. It came back negative. I skipped my period last month as well. I just got it and it burned to even put a tampon in. In addition, I have been feeling very uncomfortable while and after I urinate. I have not been sexually active in over a year. In addition, I have been having digestive issues as well which was diagnosed as internal hemorrhoids and irritable bowel syndrome. I naturally figured that nausea and stomach pains were symptoms of my digestive problem but it may be otherwise. What can this possibly be? I have been tested for chlamydia and that was negative. Can this even be an STD since I have not been sexually active in over a year?

Me and my bf had unprotected sex while I was on my period on new years eve. We had unprotected sex again 1/22/09 i started my period a few hours later. We’ve had unprotected sex 3 times since then. Oh and we just had sex again tonight. my period is due 2/22/09. All the times we had sex, he came inside me. Im not on any type of birth control.

Symptoms:

nausea
very very very tired
constipated and due to that ive developed hemorrhoids.
cramping here and there nothing major.
spotting and an increase of discharge
my period that i had 1/22/09 lasted 3 days and it was light.
bad headaches
gas!! Im gassy all the time!!!
legs hurt throughout the day
bloated (i feel fat)
weight gain
more hair (everywhere)
boobs feel heavier and bigger
nipples are very very very very sore
aereolas are bigger and darker
i have dark spots on my cheeks, corners of my mouth, forehead and inner thighs.
i crave certain foods
I smell EVERYTHING!! lol
a runny and stuffy nose
im sneezing more
sensitive teeth and gums (my gums bleed when i brush my teeth)

the biggest one of all is…getting a yeast infection for the VERY 1st time in my life!! AND it wont go away. I went to the doctor 1/22/09 and found out that i had one. she gave me diflucanzol (ooops). The first one didnt clear it up so she prescribed some more. I still have it! Wat over the counter medicine works the best?
Earlier I noticed some blood when I went to the bathroom. Its bright pink and light. i put a pad on just in case.
I went to go use the bathroom (TMI) and the blood is still bright and light. (not quite like a period) but i have tiny clots!!
should I be worried?

Hey. Uhm. I think I might possibly have a UTI or a yeast infection. not sure… cuz i have symptoms for both. Burning when i pee, its kinda cloudy, itchy vagina (annoying) etc. I also have hemorrhoids… Yeah I know what your thinking. Dang. she has alot of problems. Yup. and Im only 15. My life sucks. Anyway. I’m kinda afraid to tell my mom… and I need a good way I can tell her that I need to go to a doctor, etc. Also, Will the doctor notice the hemorrhoids already.. or do I need to tell them that too? ;3

Ive been tired an achy a bit but the most important thing is there is blood in my stool im 18 and i called my doctor he said hemorrhoid and to call him if it goes on for more then three days and it has so what is wrong every time I crap I see blood now i dont have any other real symptoms other then i feel tired an achy I will call the doctor but is it more than hemorrhoids or do I need to get it treated or even possibly cancer but be in mind im only 18. I never said I had Cancer im just throwing it out there and I was never constipated is there more look my doctor said this would an should stop after day 3 BUT its been goin on for 4 days an now im on day 5 an its not bleeding while I poop its after when I try to squeeze those last nugs out it bleeds then could it be anything serious
